Board of Governors Action
October 4 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
Join faculty, staff and students at the first Board of Governors meeting to make faculty and grad concerns heard.
We are in the midst of contract negotiations and so far, the Barchi administration has shown their disrespect for our team and for the bargaining process with a consistent policy of delays, a lack of preparations, and a wholesale rejection of entire swaths of our contract proposals. We’ve been meeting since March, and have no substantive responses to our proposals from the administration’s team, including our campus pay equity clause, a guaranteed 5-year funding package for graduate employees, affordable health care, increased tenure-track hiring, and so much more.
There’s no reason for us to accept this disrespectful behavior. There’s no reason for us to accept lengthy delays in negotiations when we showed up prepared and ready to negotiate six months ago. Barchi’s contract renewal last week that includes a massive increase to his salary is another slap in the face to our faculty.
As the highest governing body at Rutgers University, the Board of Governors is ultimately responsible for holding Barchi accountable. Their meeting on October 4th is the only such gathering in Camden for the entire academic year, so it’s important we seize the moment to stand up and be counted. We’ll be sending out more information as soon as the agenda is publicly listed to enable our members to sign up to speak during the open session.
This is our only chance this year to show the Board of Governors that Camden faculty won’t continue to tolerate the disrespect from the central administration. Let’s make it count.
